Making a Custom Damascus Chef's Knife from Start to Finish. Part 1.

This is the start of a commissioned damascus chef's knife. I will be adding videos of my progress to completion of this project. I have started with 3/16" X 2.5" 1084 and 15N20. There are 8 layers of each, so I'm starting with a 16 layer billet. This is larger steel than I typically use for a damascus billet. It weighs in at about 8lbs. The customer wants a raindrop or birds eye damascus chef's knife with ebony scales and nickel pins. I should have enough material left over to make another knife or two. I would like to try a mosaic pattern. We'll see how that works out.
